GATE Official Mock Test Link Active for 2023. Candidates need to visit the official website to attempt the mock test. The exam will take place on 12th February 2023 in 2 shifts. Shift 1 will be the Forenoon session from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and Shift 2 will be the Afternoon session from 2:30 am to 5:30 pm. The Admit card for the same will be available on 3rd January 2023. The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering or popularly known as GATE is an Entrance exam that serves as a gateway for all Engineering aspirants to fulfill their dream of getting a Master's Degree or getting into leading PSUs.   • GATE CE Exam 2023 will be conducted to screen the candidates for the most reputed educational institutes of India i.e IIT, NIT, etc.
  • The GATE is a Computer-based examination that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in Engineering and Science.
  • Using the GATE scores, candidates can also get recruitment in various reputed Public sector units (PSUs ) like BHEL, GAIL, etc.
  • Once you get your GATE scores, these scores will be valid for 3 years.
  • Currently, PSU Recruitment through GATE is ongoing in various PSUs like NTPC, Hindustan Copper Limited, and others on the basis of GATE 2022/ 2021 scores. Other PSUs like ONGC, GAIL, etc. have also announced the recruitment on the basis of the GATE 2023 score of the candidates.
  • The application process for GATE 2023 took place from 30th August 2022 to 7th October 2022.

1st October 2022: Last Date of Application Extended

GATE CE Apply Online Process 2023


Step 1: Go to the official website of GATE, and reach the GATE CE registration page.

Step 2: Candidates must register themselves by filling up the necessary information as a new user.

Step 3: Save your Registration ID and password for future reference.

Step 4: Log in with the Registration ID and password.

Step 5: Fill up important details.

Step 6: Candidates must upload their recent photograph and signature.

Step 7: Submit your application form.

Step 8: Proceed for payment of application fees.

Step 9: Alternatively, you can also find the link on the GATE Official Website.

Step 10: Candidates will find a link that says, “GOAPS is open now! “

Important Points Related To The GATE CE Application Process 2023

  • Prefix/title such as Mr/Shri/Dr/Mrs/Smt/Prof/Capt/Maj/Lt/Col., etc. MUST NOT be used.
  • Once you click on the “Submit button and Proceed to Payment” button, NO further changes can be made in the application form. So, ensure all the details are correct.
  • A person with Disability (PwD) / Dyslexic candidate has the option of availing scribe assistance during the GATE 2023 examination.
  • A passport size (3.5 cm Width × 4.5 cm Height) photograph in color with white background is required for the GATE Application Form. 
  • Draw a rectangular box of size 2 cm × 7 cm (Height × Width) on an A4 sized white paper and sign with black/dark blue ink pen within this box. The signature should occupy 70~80% of the box size. The file size should fall between 10 kB (minimum) to 200 kB (maximum).
  • Once the candidate has filled the application form, they have to upload the scanned copy of the photograph, signature, and category certificate (if applicable) as per the specifications of the exam authority.

  • GATE application forms will be scrutinized for the accuracy of the data, which includes uploaded copies of supporting documents, clarity of the photograph, and signature. If everything is as per the guidelines, then the application form will be accepted.
  • The defects found in the GATE application will be marked and intimated to the candidate for rectification, which has to be rectified within the stipulated given time. The intimation will be done via e-mail and/or SMS mentioned by the candidate in the application form.

GATE CE Selection Process 2023

The candidates will have to appear for a competitive exam. Then the admission cutoff will be released by various reputed universities and PSUs. Candidates will have to fill the forms of these colleges prior. The GATE CE exam is only a 1 stage exam. Successful candidates equal to the number of seats will be admitted. There shall be no interview. Hence the candidates will only have to undergo a written exam.

Age Criteria for GATE CE 2023

There is absolutely no age limit in GATE. Candidates from any age group can apply for the GATE CE 2023 exam.


The applicant must be an Indian citizen. Foreign candidates can also apply for the exam but they need to fulfill the required eligibility criteria. 

  • A foreign candidate must have completed or in the final year or in the pre-final year of their bachelor’s degree in engineering and technology or
  • Must have completed or in the final year or in the pre-final year of their Post Graduate degree in any relevant science subject

Educational Qualifications

Candidates who have obtained/are pursuing their qualifying degree from outside India must be currently in the 3rd year or higher years or completed their Bachelor’s degree in their field of Engineering / Technology / Science / Arts / Commerce. GATE CE Syllabus 2023

GATE Civil Engineering Syllabus is divided usually into 7 parts. Those seven sections of the GATE Civil Engineering syllabus have been further subdivided into several sub-sections. The various topics of each section of the GATE CE syllabus 2023 are given below. For each topic, there is a section-wise detailed syllabus. Please understand the syllabus thoroughly and align your preparation plan accordingly. You should learn all the sub-topics and avoid skipping any of them, as there’s plenty of time for GATE 2023.

Structural Engineering:

  • Hydraulics: Forces on immersed bodies; Flow measurement in channels and pipes; Dimensional analysis and hydraulic similitude; Channel Hydraulics – Energy-depth relationships, specific energy, critical flow, hydraulic jump, uniform flow, gradually varied flow and water surface profiles.

Environmental Engineering:

  • Water and Waste Water Quality and Treatment: Basics of water quality standards – Physical, chemical, and biological parameters; Water quality index; Unit processes and operations; Water requirement; Water distribution system; Drinking water treatment. Traffic Engineering: 

  • Traffic studies on flow and speed, peak hour factor, accident study, statistical analysis of traffic data; Microscopic and macroscopic parameters of traffic flow, fundamental relationships; Traffic signs; Signal design by Webster’s method; Types of intersections; Highway capacity.

Geomatics Engineering:

  • Principles of surveying; Errors and their adjustment; Maps – scale, coordinate system; Distance and angle measurement – Levelling and trigonometric leveling; Traversing and triangulation survey; Total station; Horizontal and vertical curves. Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing – Scale, flying height; Basics of remote sensing and GIS.

GATE CE Exam Pattern 2023

The GATE exam is conducted online for all streams. It is a Computer Based test in which multiple-choice questions will be asked by the authority. GATE CE Cut Off 2023

The exam conducting body will release the GATE CE cut-off 2023 marks once the exam is concluded. Cut-off marks are the minimum amount of marks that the candidates need to attain to move forward in the selection process. The cutoff marks vary each year depending on various factors, such as the number of applicants, the number of seats, previous year cut-off, etc. There is never a significant difference in the cut-off marks if compared to the previous years. The candidates can refer to the last year’s cut-off to get an idea about their chances of getting in.
