GATE EC Apply Online 2023

Below are the steps to apply for the GATE 2023.

Step 1: Click on the direct link given above.

Step 2: Register by filling up the necessary information.

Step 3: Save the registration ID and password for future reference.

Step 4: Log in with the registration ID and password.

Step 5: Fill up important details.

Step 6: Upload a recent photograph and signature.

Step 7: Submit your application form.

Step 8: Proceed for payment of application fees.

Step 9: Alternatively, you can also find the link on the GATE Official Website.

Step 10: Candidates will find a link that says, “GOAPS is open now! “

Important points:

  • After the candidate has filled the application form, they have to upload the scanned copy of the photograph, signature, and category certificate (if applicable) as per the specifications by the exam conducting authority.
  • NO change can be made in the application form after the payment of the fee. So, make sure that all the details are correct. If everything is as per the guidelines, only then the application form will be accepted or else rejected.
  • Draw a rectangular box of size 2 cm × 7 cm (Height × Width) on an A4 sized white paper and sign with black/dark blue ink pen within this box. The signature should occupy 70~80% of the box size. File size: 10 kB (minimum) – 200 kB (maximum). You can crop the image and signature as per dimensions by using testbook photo resizing tool.
  • Colored passport size photo of dimension: 3.5 cm Width × 4.5 cm Height with white background is required for the GATE Application Form.
  • The candidate will be intimidated about any errors found in the GATE application, which has to be rectified within the given period of time. This will be done via e-mail and/or SMS.
  • The PwD/ Dyslexic candidates are allowed to avail scribe assistant EC for the GATE 2023 examination.

GATE EC Selection Process 2023

The candidates will have to appear for an online examination. GATE EC is a 1 stage exam only. There shall be no interview. Only successful candidates equal to the number of seats available will be taken in on a first come first serve basis. Hence the candidates will have to undergo only a written exam. GATE selection process is based on the result or scorecard released by the authorities for admission to programmes in IITs. Institutes are alloted to candidates for admissions with the normalized GATE Score/Interview + normalized GATE score.

GATE EC Eligibility Criteria 2023

The eligibility criteria is a really important piece of information that every candidate must cross-check before applying for the exam. GATE has also set education qualification eligibility for all the streams of the examination. Read the information below to know about the eligibility for the GATE EC 2023 exam.

  • Age Criteria: There is no age limit in GATE CS, candidates from any age group can apply for the exam. They must be a graduate and there is no upper age limit.
  • Nationality: Indian candidates can apply for the exam. Foreign candidates can also apply for the exam but they need to fulfill the required eligibility criteria for the Foreign Nationals, SC / ST / PwD categories are not applicable.

  • Calculus: Mean value theorems, theorems of integral calculus, evaluation of definite and improper  integrals, partial derivatives, maxima and minima, multiple integrals, line, surface and volume integrals, Taylor  series. 
  • Differential Equations: First order equations (linear and nonlinear), higher order linear differential equations,  Cauchy's and Euler's equations, methods of solution using variation of parameters, complementary function  and particular integral, partial differential equations, variable separable method, initial and boundary value  problems. 
  • Vector Analysis: Vectors in plane and space, vector operations, gradient, divergence and curl, Gauss's, Green's  and Stokes’ theorems.

GATE EC Exam Pattern 2023

The mode of GATE Electronics & Communication exam is online. It is a computer-based test (CBT) which will have a mix of questions like numerical answer test (NAT) and multiple choice questions (MCQ). The detailed GATE EC exam pattern is discussed below.

  • Candidates are asked 65 questions over a duration of 3 hours.
  • There is a negative marking of 1/3 rd for 1 mark MCQ questions.

  • The GATE exam consists of a total of 100 marks.
  • There is NO negative marking for a wrong answer in MSQ and NAT questions. However, there is NO partial credit also.
